Transition into nursery life for a child can be challenging and indeed for parents leaving a child for the first time too! We have many years experience in helping with this process and in order to make this as easy as possible for both the child and parents alike we pride ourselves in offering an extended family environment. To enable this smooth transition into nursery communication with parents is paramount, working closely with every parent provides the opportunity to extend your child's learning opportunities. At Dawn to Dusk we pride ourselves on the collaborative approach between parents and the setting on the child’s learning and development.
The EYFS (2012) states ‘Providers must work in partnership with parents to promote the learning and development of the children in their care and to ensure they are ready for school’.
Each child has an allocated Key person, who recognises the parent is the child’s first educator, who knows the child the best and that is why it is so important for us to gather all information before the child starts at the nursery, through settling in periods. The Key Person will share information effectively in order to ensure each child’s individual needs are met and build upon their learning and development.
At Dawn to Dusk we understand how busy parents are and sometimes it may not be possible to engage in a lengthily handover daily, therefore we provide tools to support the communication with daily contact books, newsletters, emails, and parents evenings. Any information regarding the whole nursery can be found on our reference points in the reception area.
